Vipond
Installs Fire Protection Systems at Airport Hangar
Vipond has
just completed installing and testing fire protection systems
in the new 252,000 square foot aircraft hangar at Lester B.
Pearson International Airport near Toronto. The hangar was
built to service and hold three Boeing 747 jumbo jets.
For this
project, Vipond installed 46 fire protection systems comprised
of wet, dry, pre-action and AFFF foam deluge systems. This
included six remote deluge valves used to control the activation
of the AFFF foam-water powered oscillating monitors.
Each 84,000
square foot hangar bay is protected by six deluge foam-water
ceiling sprinkler systems, one foam-water hand hose system,
and one foam-water system supplying the oscillating monitors.
These systems, when activated in one bay, result in a water
flow of approximately 18,000 USGPM (United States Gallons Per
Minute).
